MISD advocates & support you in becoming your own BEST advocate if you, or someone you know are affected by incarceration.
12 years ago, I had a dream where God was telling me that I need to step up, and be the voice to help mothers and families dealing with incarceration.
MISD was created to advocate for the changes needed in our criminal justice system. My personal experience with my only son Lance (3 trials and an overturned conviction) by the Appeals Court, fueled my advocacy.
The criminal justice system is changing, but there's room for development as we continue to advocate for legislative reforms. The systemic oppressive conditions are criminalizing people for being poor, and the disparity between them and the privilege must change.
MISD stands for Mothers of Incarcerated Sons and Daughters. We're dedicated to changing the systems by informing, empowering, and inspiring people to use their voice along with actions to change the system. Check us out: here
